Cookie Policy
How ChefSync uses cookies and similar technologies to keep your account secure, understand usage, and improve the platform.
Last updated: 2026-05-17Introduction
This Cookie Policy explains how ChefSync SAS ("ChefSync," "we," "us," or "our") uses cookies and similar tracking technologies when you access or use our Platform. It describes what these technologies are, why we use them, and your rights to control their use.
By using the Services, you consent to our use of cookies as described in this policy, except for Essential cookies which are necessary for the Platform to operate. You may withdraw your consent for non-essential cookies at any time through your browser settings or by contacting us.
What Are Cookies and Similar Technologies
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer or mobile device when you visit a website or use an application. They are widely used to make websites and applications work more efficiently, as well as to provide information to the owners of the site.
In addition to cookies, we use other similar technologies such as local storage, session storage, and device fingerprinting. These technologies perform functions similar to cookies and are subject to the same controls and protections described in this policy.
Device fingerprinting is a technique we use to collect non-identifying information about your device, such as screen resolution, browser version, installed fonts, and operating system. This fingerprint helps us detect fraud and abuse while preserving your privacy.
How We Use Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies for the following purposes:
- Authentication and session management: To verify your identity, maintain your login session, and protect your account from unauthorized access.
- Security and fraud prevention: To detect suspicious behavior, prevent account takeover, identify fraudulent trial registrations, and enforce our Terms of Service.
- Platform functionality: To remember your preferences, settings, and customized interface so you can work efficiently.
- Analytics and performance: To understand how users interact with the Platform, measure feature usage, diagnose technical issues, and improve our services.
- Service improvement: To develop new features, test interface changes, and optimize the Platform based on aggregated usage patterns.
Essential Cookies
These cookies are necessary for the Platform to function and cannot be disabled. They enable core features such as authentication, session management, and security protections.
Without these cookies, the Platform cannot operate securely. They authenticate your identity, maintain your session across page views, prevent fraudulent use of accounts, and enforce security policies.
| Cookie name | Duration | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| chefsync_session | Session | Maintains your authenticated session across requests |
| chefsync_auth_token | 30 days | Remembers your login state between visits when you select 'Keep me signed in' |
| chefsync_csrf | Session | Protects against cross-site request forgery attacks |
| chefsync_security_flags | 1 year | Stores multi-factor authentication preferences and device trust status |
Functional Cookies
These cookies enable enhanced functionality and personalization. They remember your preferences and settings to provide a more tailored experience.
Functional cookies store your interface preferences, selected language, timezone, dashboard layout, and notification settings so you do not need to reconfigure them on every visit.
| Cookie name | Duration | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| chefsync_preferences | 1 year | Stores your display and notification preferences |
| chefsync_language | 1 year | Remembers your selected language for the interface |
| chefsync_dashboard_state | 90 days | Preserves your customized dashboard layout and widget visibility |
Analytics and Performance Cookies
These cookies help us understand how users interact with the Platform so we can improve performance, identify issues, and optimize the user experience.
Analytics cookies collect information about page visits, feature usage, error rates, and load times in an aggregated and anonymized form. This data guides our product development and infrastructure planning.
| Cookie name | Duration | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| chefsync_ga | 2 years | Distinguishes unique visitors and tracks session activity (anonymized) |
| chefsync_perf | 1 year | Records page load times and JavaScript errors for engineering diagnostics |
| chefsync_feature_flags | 30 days | Tracks which new features are enabled for your account for A/B testing |
Security and Fraud Prevention Cookies
These cookies are deployed to detect and prevent abuse, fraud, and unauthorized access. They help us identify suspicious patterns and protect both users and the Platform.
Security cookies support our automated monitoring systems by recording device characteristics, login behavior, and transaction patterns. This enables us to detect trial abuse, account takeover attempts, and other threats without human intervention.
| Cookie name | Duration | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| chefsync_device_id | 1 year | Generates a non-identifying device fingerprint to detect unusual access patterns |
| chefsync_login_attempts | 24 hours | Counts failed login attempts to trigger rate limiting and account protection |
| chefsync_risk_score | Session | Stores a real-time risk assessment score used to challenge suspicious sessions |
| chefsync_trial_guard | 90 days | Tracks trial eligibility to prevent duplicate or fraudulent trial registrations |
Data Retention
The duration for which a cookie remains on your device depends on its purpose. Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain until they expire or you delete them manually.
Security-related data, including device fingerprints and risk scores, is retained for a maximum of ninety (90) days after your last login, unless longer retention is required for ongoing investigations or legal obligations. Analytics data is retained in aggregated form for up to two (2) years.
We do not sell cookie-derived data to third parties. Data collected through cookies is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy and Colombian Law 1581 of 2012.
Your Choices and Control
You have several options to control or limit how cookies are used:
- Browser settings: Most web browsers allow you to block or delete cookies through the browser settings. Please note that disabling Essential cookies will prevent you from accessing the Platform.
- Cookie banner: When you first visit the Platform, you may be presented with a cookie consent banner allowing you to accept or decline non-essential cookies.
- Account settings: Logged-in users can manage certain cookie preferences, such as analytics participation, from their account settings page.
- Do Not Track: Some browsers include a "Do Not Track" signal. We honor this signal for analytics cookies where technically feasible, but it does not affect Essential or Security cookies.
If you disable non-essential cookies, the Platform will continue to function, but some features may be less personalized, and our ability to improve the service based on usage data will be limited.
Third-Party Cookies
In addition to our own cookies, we use cookies from trusted third-party providers to support analytics, security, and infrastructure services. These providers are contractually bound to process data in accordance with our instructions and applicable data protection laws.
Current third-party cookie providers include:
- Cloud infrastructure and CDN services for performance optimization
- Analytics providers for aggregated usage reporting
- Security services for threat detection and abuse prevention
We do not permit third parties to use cookies for advertising or profiling outside the scope of our services.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technologies, or legal requirements. We will notify you of material changes by posting an updated policy on the Platform and, where appropriate, by email.
The "Last updated" date at the top of this policy indicates when it was last revised. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
